A SHOT WORTH TAKING

Costa Rica Cost Of Living Update: 15 ounce bottle of honey-$4

It’s common to wait for the right time in life to pursue one’s dream but sometimes that perfect moment is disguised by the fear of leaping out of one’s comfort zone.

I am guilty of this. When it was time to make this move I came up with ten different reasons why we should stay in the states. I detailed every hair-raising situation that could happen while living in a foreign country.  And believe me, I have a good imagination.

My husband calmly listened and gave ten better reasons why this could be the adventure of a lifetime.  He reminded me that my fear was change… simply that.  And change is one of the strongest reasons why people don’t go out and grab the life they always wanted, often times hovering in the same place for years.

Hummingbirds are uniquely designed to hover in the air while flapping their wings up to 90 times per second.  Their speed allows them to dash in and out of flowers drinking the nectar with their perfectly designed bill. They keep moving forward even after the brief seconds when they need to fly backwards, something only hummingbirds can do.

My husband snapped this picture after waiting patiently for the right moment to come.  He knew it was a shot worth taking.

    Hi there!
I am new to your website, and very interested in Costa Rica. I woke up one day, and decided that I wanted to become an expat, live some place other than the US, and live my life like a local would. I started researching Costa Rica, for some reason, and came across your site. Now, I follow you on Facebook as well, and that’s what led me to this post. Thank’s for all your blogging, you certainly have given me lots of useful information, and insight.
    ~hugs~

Thanks Melissa. I’ve been having the time of my life here. Even with some of the obstacles, I’m still very… very happy.

Great photo. Ansel Adams use to wait hours and hours just for the right conditions to take his magnificant landscape pictures. Sometimes you have to stop– hold your breath and squeeze the shutter, then hope for the best… just like life.

Can’t wait to come down there and take some of my own pics.

Thanks Tom. We finally bought a better camera, nothing too fancy, but it has a better zoom. I spent at least an hour today waiting for a baby monkey, and finally got some good video. I felt like one of those National Geographic photographers that sit still in the jungle waiting for a shot.

Thanks for coming to my site. This crazy experiment has been a blessing and made me look at the world in a completely different way. Just the time to sit and watch hummingbirds is wonderful. I am happier than a billionaire.

Everything here is so beautiful, the colors so deep, I can’t imagine what it is like to be stuck in 2 feet of snow anymore.
