TAKE A BREATH

Costa Rica Cost Of Living Update:  16 oz bottle extra virgin olive oil- $7.88

There were times in the office my chest got so tight I had to remember to take a breath. It’s strange that something as involuntary as breathing was something I had to remember to do.

Stress does strange things to your body, not the least being holding your breath. It also makes you forget things…like kissing your husband when you get home from work, or calling your mom to ask how her day is going, or giving the older man in the supermarket your space on line.

You also forget that the sun rises and sets in a spectacular display everyday. And it seems that whenever I pause to pay attention to its brilliance, I am kinder to the people around me.

Take a break…catch your breath…and watch a sunset. You might be surprised how good it makes you feel.

Thanks Ann, sometimes we just have to take a step back and remember all the blessings. Sometimes it’s hard to do when we are so stressed, but this world is such a lovely place. Isn’t it a shame how often we forget about that. Whenever I get overwhelmed, I remember to just take a breath. It’s the cheapest therapy out there.

Finished your book Tuesday this week and sent it with my son and daughter-in-love to read on their flight to CR yesterday. LOVED it! We are a crazy family wanting to move 2 old people, 5 adult children and 3 grandchildren to CR. The kids are there for the next 12 days scouting out the land, so excited to pursue this and to have read your book inspiring me/us to move forward with this insane plan, as seen by those around us. Look forward to your next book and thank you for the reminder to slow down and breath!

Thank you so much Cindy! It sounds like we are like minded. Your crazy plan was my crazy plan 5 years ago. Everyone said I’d be back in a year…well…that didn’t happen.

As long as you can laugh at all the nuttiness, living here is great. I’ve learned to slow down and just go with the flow. It was the best thing I ever did with my life and wouldn’t go back and change anything. Well, I might not have talked to Dolores the dog lady…I could have done without her.

Nuttiness describes my everyday life! Why not live it in another country with a language I can’t speak! My life is full of “Dolores the dog ladies” I attract those kind so I related to all of your stories about her. 😉

Oops, forgot my name! I’ve been called a lot of things but not usually anonymous!

I love it. It seems everyone has some version of Dolores the Dog Lady on their block. The one you wish that one day they will move to Costa Rica!! I know how you feel.

Some really good advice, sometimes we just need to stop and smell the roses.

Why is it that we so often ignore the sweetest things around us? And always wish we could have had more time to appreciate the people we love?

Sometimes it feels as if life is going by too fast.
