PRETTY WOMAN

Costa Rica Cost Of Living Update: 6.6 pounds of mangos—$2

The sunsets lately have been amazing. There is an afterglow of  purple and pink colors that up light the sky just as the sun disappears. I like these more than the typical golden ones; these have panache.

People often “ooh and aah” on the beach as this display unfolds. It occurred to me that Costa Rica is much like a pretty woman. One so gorgeous you stop what you are doing to watch her saunter into the room. You might even get lucky and catch a whiff of her perfume as she passes.

Or maybe Costa Rica just makes everything seem prettier. I’ll remember that the next time a flying beetle gets caught in my hair. They might be pretty as well, but I can assure you, they never smell like perfume.

My husband and I just got back from Tamarindo yesterday. We are in a total funk. Like your crazy neighbors, we are planning to move with our five dogs asap. I spent the whole day trying to find a rental house on the beach that would have us!

BTW, your book cost $20 in Tamarindo! Congrats on the good life! Lisa

Thanks Lisa. Keep looking for rentals, I know there are places in Potrero that will have dogs…how many I’m not sure. I know how you feel. Coming back from vacation is hard, especially when you found a place you can see yourself living. But it sounds like you will eventually get here….with a bunch of furry critter in tow!!!

Hi Deb, the new book-which will be out by the end of the year- continues where the first one left off. Living at the beach has presented many more obstacles and sometimes I feel like I moved to a different country entirely. Oh…and plenty more stories about Rob. He just can’t seem to stop coming up with all these “great” ideas!
