Costa Rica Cost of Living Update: Guidebook including everything you need to know about moving to and living in Costa Rica—  Paperback $12.99  or Kindle $2.99

After two years of interviews and countless road trips, Happier Than A Billionaire: The Escape Manual is finally available. It’s the “how to” on moving to Costa Rica, with lots of armchair travel thrown in for good measure.

I knew a lot about living in Costa Rica, but even I was surprised—after interviewing many experts—just how much I still didn’t know before writing The Escape Manual.

I’m excited to share what I’ve learned, so let me take you on a journey through getting residency, buying a car, avoiding crime, meeting a trustworthy attorney, and much, much more.

As you may know, when navigating a foreign country there are bound to be some laughs along the way.

    Hi Nadine and Rob,

Just started your second book and I really like it! I will definitely buy your Escape Manual. We have the same plan as yours except we will buy four plane tickets : we have two young kids, 4 and 6 years old.
Do you have any specific tips for a family moving abroad?
Thanks again for your funny and interesting writings,
    Mélissa

Hi Melissa!! Thanks for checking out my blog. The best thing you can pack is a good attitude. That will get you through anything. Kids adapt really fast. It’s like a playground here. Are you going to enroll them into any schools? What parts of the country are you thinking of? Beach or mountains?

You’re right! Kids are like sponge, they soak up information faster than we are. But as we are French-canadians, they do not speak English nor Spanish yet. We will teach them at home for a while, with a little time they will know at least another language. We would like to have a school nearby and a great neighbourhood with a community spirit. So… Beach or mountains? We don’t know yet but we would prefer the Pacific coast. We’ll travel a bit and settle down where we will find good vibes for us. For now, the plan is to visite around Dominical (Uvita, Ojochal) and Nicoya peninsula.
